When I first imagined this retreat, I thought it would be a gathering of voice actors.

After all, burnout is something I know intimately.

As a full-time voice actor, I spent years juggling auditions, deadlines, clients, travel, teaching, business development, and the endless pressure of being self-employed. In 2024, I hit a wall. Not the dramatic, movie-version burnout. The quieter kind.

The kind where you're still functioning.

Still showing up.

Still getting things done.

But somewhere along the way, you've lost access to yourself.

When registration opened for my July yoga retreat in Quebec City, I expected fellow voice actors to be the ones raising their hands.

Instead, something fascinating happened.

A children's book author signed up.

Then a psychologist.

A social worker.

A breath work facilitator.

A film director.

Women from completely different professions began reserving spots.

At first, I wondered why.

Then I realized something important.

Burnout doesn't care what you do for a living.

It doesn't care if you're directing films, writing books, helping clients navigate trauma, guiding breathwork sessions, teaching yoga, or recording commercials.

It simply shows up when we've spent too long giving without replenishing.

The Hidden Cost of Being the One Everyone Relies On

Many self-employed women carry an invisible weight.

We're the CEO.
The marketing department.
The customer service team.
The creative director.
The administrator.

At work, people depend on us.

At home, people depend on us.

Even in our communities, we're often the helpers, the organizers, the caretakers, and the problem-solvers.

Eventually, the nervous system starts asking for something different.

Not more productivity.

Not another strategy.

Not another podcast.

Not another book.

Just space.

Space to breathe.

Space to sleep.

Space to move.

Space to hear our own thoughts again.

Why Retreats Work

A retreat doesn't magically solve your problems.

But it does create something increasingly rare in modern life:

A pause.

When you step away from your usual environment, something shifts.

You stop reacting.

You start noticing.

You remember what your body feels like when it isn't rushing toward the next obligation.

You remember what conversations feel like when nobody is networking, selling, pitching, or performing.

You remember what it feels like to simply be.

And often, that's where the clarity comes from.

A Weekend with Women Who Get It

What excites me most about this retreat isn't the yoga.

It's the people.

The women who have already registered come from vastly different careers, but they all share something important.

They understand responsibility.

They understand pressure.

They understand what it feels like to care deeply about their work and the people they serve.

For one weekend, nobody has to explain that.

Nobody has to prove themselves.

Nobody has to perform.

We simply gather.

We practice yoga.

We breathe.

We eat nourishing meals.

We walk the historic streets of Old Quebec.

We enjoy moments of silence.

We rest.

And we remember that our worth is not measured by our productivity.

An Invitation to Press Pause

From July 10–12, we'll gather at the beautiful Monastère des Augustines in Quebec City for a weekend designed to help busy women slow down, reconnect with themselves, and leave feeling lighter than when they arrived.

This retreat is for you if:

  • You're self-employed and feeling stretched thin.

  • You care deeply about your work but are tired of running on empty.

  • You find yourself constantly "on."

  • You crave meaningful connection with other women.

  • You need permission to rest before your body demands it.

The shared rooms have already sold out.

A handful of private rooms remain.

Maybe that's your sign.

Not to escape your life.

But to return to it with a little more energy, a little more clarity, and a lot more of yourself.
